Bulk mail is significantly less expensive than First Class mail. All bulk mailings require a preprinted indicia on the upper-right corner of the mail piece. For any mailing other than Non-profit Standard A Class, contact a Customer Service Representative. A minimum of 200 pieces is required for a bulk mailing.
Recent changes implemented by the United States Postal Service involving Bulk Mail or Permit No. 2, affect Indiana University’s policies and procedures.
Any mailing submitted to the U.S. Post Office using Indiana University’s Permit No. 2 has to include an approved Indiana University signature as the mailing agent on the accompanying paperwork. This step was mandated for compliance with established “Move Update” procedures, in order to ensure the Indiana University community can continue sending mail at discounted rates.
Outside vendors who prepare mailings for Indiana University departments are no longer able to mail items using Indiana University‘s Permit No. 2. Outside vendors can still prepare and process your mailings, but they have to submit that mailing using their own permit number.
